If you wait by the river long enough, a new entry of "Gems By Lamplight" will surely float by... Let's see what the artistic currents deviantly brought us in the past few months !
The wider world is reflected like a promise in the windows of an iconic English castle in parallel-pam's proud picture, while Yoona-K01 immerses us in the razor-edged wonders of a cold city night and DimitarMarkov creates a miraculous landscape of nostalgic longing and miniature epiphanies. Next, Edinburgh has never looked as glorious as in JanKacar's striking capture, a compelling Snow Queen electrifies proceedings in evagamayun's powerful painting, and the eternal Rhine majestically flows away in UdoChristmann's fascinating black and white photograph. Trouble ahoy ! as iGingerbread's fearless heroine prepares to tackle an overwhelming adversary in a beautifully moody image... Rest is at hand in jxsnyder's exhilarating view of nature at its best, seen from an eagle's eyrie. From this real-life Lonely Mountain, a Tolkienesque continuity leads us to giadrosich's exquisite portrait of Arwen Undómiel, graceful and heart-breaking as only true beauty can be. Finally, there is lingering magic and lurking marvels in calimer00's funfair at twilight, chateaugrief freezes a primal moment in time on a coast deserted by mankind, seemingly effortlessly drawing on the accumulated expertise of centuries of painting along the way, and Aro79 brings us the vibrant picture of a cityscape reaching for the sky.
As a last note, the talented MarieRaine, methodically pursuing her conquest of each and every art medium, has crafted her lovely first video which can (and should) be watched here :

Gems By Lamplight #19
Strange feelings assail me as I settle down to introduce this latest entry of "Gems By Lamplight". It has been seventeen months, almost to the day, since entry #18 : even by my rather low standards, this is undeniably a slowdown, which can be attributed to many reasons, but makes me look with something like nostalgia at the good old days of 2015-2016 (the digital age seems to accelerate everything, including the lapse of time before one is reasonably entitled to feel nostalgia), when I was most active on DA. In the same vein, perusing the older entries of "Gems By Lamplight", I am a bit saddened by the number of deviants I have featured in th
Gems By Lamplight #18
The time is ripe for a new entry of "Gems By Lamplight" (this is all a matter of critical mass, really). This review of personal favourites kicks off strongly with DavidSchermann (https://www.deviantart.com/davidschermann)'s fascinating fall from grace, GabrielWigren (https://www.deviantart.com/gabrielwigren)'s wonderful rocky coast -- a reminder of summers past and a herald of summers yet to come -- and LePtitSuisse1912 (https://www.deviantart.com/leptitsuisse1912)'s deceptively simple picture of harmonious permanence. Next, TomTC (https://www.deviantart.com/tomtc) brings us a vibrant evocation of the exhilaration at the start of a journey, while UdoChristmann (https://www.deviantart.com/udochristmann) brilliantly captures the particular atmosphere of a small French town. Vladimir-Kireev (https://www.deviantart.com/vladimir-kireev) is living proof that "they don't make them like that an

And so it happened that, as the days were slowly getting longer and warmer, the 17th entry of "Gems By Lamplight" came into being... If this new dawn is heralded by videodude1961 (https://www.deviantart.com/videodude1961)'s quietly hopeful capture of industry in the great outdoors, a darkening of the soul soon follows with MarkTurtoo (https://www.deviantart.com/markturtoo)'s fascinating picture of a lone fire in a forest, while Vitskog (https://www.deviantart.com/vitskog)'s trip down memory lane is suffused with bittersweet beauty. The new Star Wars films may have cost a dragon's treasure to make, but it has been worth it, if only for winter-herdiscontent (https://www.deviantart.com/winter-herdiscontent)'s marvellously moving art. Next, Enyril (https://www.deviantart.com/enyril) skilfully portrays mournful anguish under an uncaring sky, i (https://www.deviantart.com/i)
Gems By Lamplight #16
Welcome to this midwinter entry of "Gems By Lamplight" ! It all starts with a skilful piece by RoodyN (https://www.deviantart.com/roodyn), ever adept at showing the scenes of daily life in the city as if through a magic mirror. The night atmosphere goes on and goes deeper with mihailovmv (https://www.deviantart.com/mihailovmv)'s girl who played with fire, a living incarnation of sensuality and danger. Next, Yesterdays-Paper (https://www.deviantart.com/yesterdays-paper) brings us nostalgia and fantasy rolled into one with a shot of a zeppelin in the skies of Germany, a sight still jaw-dropping after all these years, ryangallagherart (https://www.deviantart.com/ryangallagherart)'s photograph of a frozen landscape prompts an unexpected musing about the evocative names of the months in the French Revolution
